CBP Agent shoots Border Crosser

At 5:10 PM a 47-year-old man was approached by Customs and Border Patrol Agents and a scuffle ensued. During the fight the man pulled what looked like a hand gun out of his waist band and waved it in the air. Then the man was shot by Federal Agents. Later it was determined that the suspect had waved a replica hand gun when he was shot.

In a statement San Diego Police say “the unidentified male approached a pedestrian booth and attempted to walk through without being fully screened … when the male continued through the turnstile without permission, the officer yelled for him to return. Additional officers grabbed the male and escorted him behind the turnstile for proper screening … the male reached into his waistband and produced a chrome-finished replica handgun, which he raised above his head”

The suspect is in the Hospital and expected to recover from his wounds.

The shooting is being investigated by the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Division.
