Yesterday Southern California Edison began the shutdown of one of its nuclear generators at the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant as a precaution. Sensors detected what could be a leak in one of the generators steam tubes.
In a press release Southern California Edison says
“The potential leak poses no imminent danger to the public or plant workers. There has been no release to the atmosphere. San Onofre personnel will evaluate the cause of the leak and the steps required to repair it and resume operations.“
