FOX 5 live in the Earthquake zone

Again today I have FOX 5 reporter Matthew Johnson live in the earthquake zone. Today he’s at the red cross center in El Centro. He made the long drive out there and will be giving us the very latest on the earthquake clean up effort.  To Watch our coverage live go HERE

Governor Schwarzenegger is going to be touring the damage today on the American side and yesterday Mexican President Felipe Calderón toured the damage in Mexicali.

In a statement to the citizens of Mexicali President Calderon said “…despite the regrettable loss of two human lives and possibly a third due to a heart attack, it is reassuring that we have not had to register a greater number of victims with fatal consequences. There are over 100 wounded, together with significant material damage we will have to cope with, and we will support the people and government of Baja California”

The earthquake that rattled Southern California and Norther Baja yesterday was stronger than the Haiti quake yet it caused very little damage. Many experts credit building code enforcement in California and better building practices in Mexico for the lack of damage when compared to Haiti.
